Documented engagement · Client anonymised
Listening across the employee experience
A nonprofit organisation used independently administered employee listening to gather feedback from staff and contracted employees over several stages.

The context
The organisation needed a structured way to hear from people with different employment arrangements. The work included exit feedback, a broader employee survey and a subsequent follow-up survey.
The approach
Spectrum administered anonymous, aggregate exit interviews in 2021 and an employee survey in early 2022. A later follow-up survey provided another opportunity for staff and contracted employees to respond. Participant communications explained that individual responses and comments would not be shared directly.
Project elements
- Independent survey administration
- Participant invitations and confidentiality communication
- Employee and contracted-employee listening
- A follow-up survey stage
What this example establishes
The documented output was a sequence of employee-listening activities rather than a one-off questionnaire. The available project record does not establish a measured change in engagement, retention or performance, so no such result is claimed.
A useful takeaway
When an organisation asks people to speak candidly, the explanation of how their feedback will be used is part of the work. A follow-up stage also creates an opportunity to continue listening after the initial survey.
